Write Your Opening Message
Your first message sets the tone for the entire roleplay. Instead of just saying "hi," set the scene. Describe where you are, what is happening and what your character is doing. Advanced AI Roleplay Tips
Guide the Story Without Controlling It
The best AI roleplay happens when you guide the direction without dictating every detail. Instead of writing out exactly what the AI character does, describe your character's actions and let the AI respond naturally. Ask questions, react to surprises and build on what the AI introduces. Collaboration produces better stories than scripting.
Build World Details Gradually
Add world building details as they become relevant rather than dumping everything upfront. Mention the tavern keeper's scar when you visit the tavern. Describe the magic system when your character first casts a spell. This keeps the conversation flowing and gives the AI manageable context to work with.
Use Images and Visuals
On platforms like Bubio, ask the AI character to generate images of key moments. Visual references for settings, character appearances and dramatic scenes add immersion that text alone cannot match. You can also upload reference images to guide the AI's visual style.
Reset and Branch When Needed
If the story goes in a direction you do not like, it is fine to redirect. Say something like "Actually, let's go back to the moment before we entered the cave." Most AI characters will adapt. Some platforms offer explicit branching or regeneration features for this purpose.
